In July 1943, the Assistance Fund received a $1 million bequest from Aaron E. Norman’s estate, transforming what had been a modest family charitable vehicle into a substantial philanthropic entity; the fund was renamed the Aaron E. Norman Fund in his honor. The Board also established a new policy: a $100 minimum for all grants, reflecting the fund’s growing capacity and its intention to direct resources toward organizations where they could make a meaningful difference.
